A fine spring afternoon at RSPB Bempton Cliffs.

Very few Puffins unfortunately but plenty of Gannets, Razorbills, Guillemots etc.

This is the only mainland Gannet colony in the UK and the scenery as well as the birds are stunning.

Early in the breeding season and many of the Kittiwakes particularly could be seen gathering nesting material with others sitting but no sign of eggs or chicks.

queen bee - really good, capture the light     | 80.6.174.xxx | 2008-06-16 21:59:29
Hi Steve! Queen Bee here from the Bees Knees Guest House down here in sunny Dorset!
Just had a look at all your photo's and I have to say I'm very impressed. Your lucky living in such a beautiful area that so obviously gives you the enthusiasm to take such wonderful photos.
I like the idea also that you dont just do nature. The Humber bridge photographs are good too. I like bridges, my two favourites are the Queen Elizabeth Bridge which spans the River Dart in kent and the Bristol suspension bridge. Would really have liked to have met Isambard kingdom Brunell and had a chat with him.
Anyway i can see that our Lord and Master has a softer side.
If ever I get to take a half decent one, I'll be sure to email it to you.
Steve - Thanks     | 86.26.242.xxx | 2008-06-16 22:25:53
Thanks for the comments Queen Bee. This is the real love of my life, I just wish I didn't have to work and could devote my time to this.

I watched them build the Humber Bridge a good many years ago when at University in Hull. Its a lovely place and the bridge remains impressive.

Do email any pics of Poole or Dorset. Be happy to put up a gallery.

What can I say, Steve, just stunning. Good job you have a head for heights.
Some of these would make wonderful caption competitions, especially the last one
